Study Tours - Experience and Learn

The CGS Study Tour provides an unparalleled opportunity for
students to apply what they've learned in an academic setting to the
"real world" experience of visiting Egypt, Japan or China. Students
spend approximately two weeks abroad, visiting historic sites,
attending a sister school and living geography and influence on
Western civilization enhances their appreciation of these
civilizations and allows them to acclimate to the very different culture
they encounter. The study tour curriculum includes:

Pre-trip preparation for both conversational language and
cultural customs
Extensive opportunity to apply languages skills and demonstrate
understanding of history and culture
Comprehensive journal-keeping for both personal observations
and cultural comparisons
Post-trip multimedia learning exhibitions
The sustained involvement and shared experience of the study tour
and home stays also forge a special bond among participants,
many of whom have never before left the U.S. In addition, it affords
many students the opportunity to deepen their appreciation of
cultural differences by personally experiencing a minority
perspective.
